In J4, we have been starting to look at writing procedures! Yesterday we worked in small groups to write a procedure about how to make a sand castle. We then swapped our procedures with another group and tried to follow their instructions. This showed us that we need to make sure we are very specific and detailed with our instructions as some groups didn’t have any sand on their ‘needs’ list!!
Making our cleaning station
Pouring in the dirty water.
Our water cleaning station.
J 1 and J2 have been learning about the water that comes out of our taps. It gets cleaned on its way from the lake to our homes and school.
We made our own mini water cleaning stations. We needed filter paper, cotton wool, sand, small rocks and larger stones.
The water was cleaned as it passed through our cleaning stations.
What an awesome experience all of our Junior students had at the start of this week. They got to be part of a fun, interactive incursion which strengthened their understanding about the water cycle, how water travels through our pipes, water tension and much more.
All the kids in J10 & J11 worked in groups to research a life cycle. Well done to the kids who worked cooperatively and spoke clearly for the oral presentation.
We had lots of fun turning milk (a liquid) into ice-cream (a solid). All it took was some rock salt and ice and lots of shaking!!!!
J10 and J11 had lots of fun measuring the capacity of different containers using sand, water, pebbles and teddy bears.
